The Environmental & Social (E&S) Manager will be responsible for developing and overseeing Environmental & Social governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Equator Principles and IFI / ECA requirements (WB ES Policies, IFC PS’s, EBRD PR’s) and national regulations.
General Qualifications
- Graduated with a BSc or equivalent in a relevant field (Engineering, Environment or relevant)
- Have a deep experience (10 years minimum) in implementing E&S policies in the frame of international funded project
- Has strong knowledge and experience in understanding and implementing ESIA, RAP, LRP, ESAP and environmental & social management plans.
- Experienced in international environmental & social performance projects; possesses solid knowledge and practical experience in environmental & social requirements such as EBRD PR’s and IFC PS’s.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and inspire colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical (qualitative and quantitative), critical thinking, and conceptualization skills.
- Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to produce clear and effective reports.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Preferably experienced in project and budget management.
- Must reside in Ankara.
Job Description
- Coordinate Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) preparation and related documentation in line with international standards.
- Coordinate preparation and implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP), including Occupational & Community Health and Safety plans.
- Monitor implementation of E&S tasks and actions (ESDD, ESMP, ESAP) in cooperation with contractors, ensuring alignment with contractual responsibilities and project ESHS management system requirements.
- Create performance indicators, report gaps, and collaborate with EPC contractors to minimize discrepancies.
- Oversee EPC contractors’ activities, maintain ESMS-related plans and procedures, identify risks, and contribute to preventive measures and communication.
- Develop and deliver E&S-related training programs; provide recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate E&S activities at the construction site and ensure compliance with international performance standards (IFC, EBRD) and national regulations.
- Manage implementation of Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) in line with project standards.
- Prepare E&S monitoring reports according to project requirements.
- Attend and represent the company at all E&S-related meetings and organizations.
- Follow shareholders’ and funders’ requirements, monitor and report E&S activities, and provide technical expertise on key issues.
- Responsible for developing and overseeing environmental & social governance policies and procedures.
